The 1st Annual CABO SUP “Paddle to the End”

On April 21st, CABO SUP held it’s 1st annual event “Paddle to the End.”  It was held under sunny skies with light wind and beautiful conditions. The Title Sponsor of the event was the Bahia Hotel & Beach Club and Bar Esquina.

The first event was a 2 mile race to the Famous Arch and the tip of the Baja Peninsula. The race had 28 entries, 18 women and 10 men. The men’s division was won by Roberto Espihoza and the women’s division was won by Annie Doyle.

The next event was a relay race in which 7 teams of 4 competed on a ½ mile triangle course. The race was won by the CABO SUP team. Following lunch the participants and many spectators paddled out in an event demonstrating the potentially positive impact that non-motorized watercrafts would have on tourism and Medano Bay. The paddle out was attended by more than 45 individuals on SUP and kyacks. The beauty of the bay in the late afternoon with so many paddlers made for a dramatic ending to a great event. The organizers goal is to use this in a lobbying effort to reduce the amount of motorized watercrafts on the bay, therefore increasing hotel occupancy and the overall rate of tourism in the area.

The event prizes were sponsored by Wide Open, Wild Canyon, Lifestyle Management and Cabo Villas Beach Resort.  Many thanks to all who participated and help sponsored what we hope is the beginning of a safer and less congested Medano Bay.
